Safety Tips

  • If you see a line that has fallen, assume that it is always energized.  Do not attempt to come in contact with any line that has fallen.  Call Blue Ridge Mountain EMC Immediately!

  • Never Assume a line is "dead".

  • Never touch an object or person that is in contact with a power line.

  • Don't climb trees that are near power lines.

  • Don't play on or near guy wires attached to power company poles.

  • Stay away from electric substations and equipment.

  • Avoid playing on or near underground transformers (Green Boxes).

  • Dig Safely!  State Law requires you to call the Utilities Protection Center of Georgia @ 1-800-282-7411 before doing any type of digging or working near underground or overhead power lines.  If you dig North Carolina call 1-800-632-4949

  • Avoid coming in contact with electric appliances while in or near water.

  • Periodically check all appliances and extension cords for deterioration.

  • Place safety covers on all electrical outlets.
